Viagra is the world’s biggest drugmaker after Sanofi, which owns Sanofi’s division of Bio-Plus Pharma. It is also the world’s biggest drugmaker by revenue. The pharmaceutical company is expected to announce the final approval of its first clinical trial to test its new drug. “We’ve already had a good track record with these products,” Pfizer’s chief executive officer, John Lechleiter, said at a news conference in London.
A Pfizer spokesman said the company is committed to working with pharmaceutical companies to develop more innovative drugs.
“We have an excellent track record with these products, and we are very confident that the company will be able to take that into account,” said Pfizer spokesman Frank Derschol, who wasn’t present for the news conference.
In late June, the drugmaker announced it would seek approval for its own clinical trial to test its new drug. Pfizer is also expected to announce its own clinical trial to test its new drug, which is a newer treatment for chronic heart disease. The company has been under a cloud for more than a decade.
